A short Biography of Heidi Twilley


Heidi Twilley was born July 20, 1959 in Orkney. She studied music at two Universities in South Africa. She obtained her B.Mus.Ed (1982) at the University of the Free State and her Honors B.Mus (1984) and M.Mus (2010), both at the North West University.

She is currently busy with her Doctorate Degree in Music on Prenatal Brain Stimulation through music, and is busy developing a “Group Prenatal Music Stimulation program” for expectant parents - first of it’s kind in the world. She is working under University professors and specialists from SA as well as the USA with her studies.

In 1996 Heidi obtained Distributorship for South Africa as well as the Southern part of Africa, and in 1997 received her first training in Greensboro, USA. During the same year, Kindermusik South Africa Closed Corporation was established. Heidi runs the Head Office as well as personally giving all the different programs in her studio. When started 20 years ago, she did all the studio programs as well as the Nursery School programs.

In March 1999 Heidi had 26 licensed educator’s working for her in various parts of South Africa. During 2000, she purchased her own building to house the current Kindermusik SA Head Office.

In 2000 she received recognition from the Klerksdorp Branch of the SA Chamber of Business for outstanding work as an Entrepreneur of the Year for Kindermusik in South Africa.

In 2005, Kindermusik South Africa was nominated and received a National award as one of South Africa’s Most Promising Companies. During the same year the Closed Corporation was dissolved and a Company was formed.

In 2003, 2006, 2009 and 2010 Heidi was awarded Kindermusik International Maestro recognition for exceptional service.

In 2008, she managed to get Therapist recognition from the Medical Board for the SA educators – the first for Kindermusik worldwide.

In April 2009 she obtained recognition as part of the World’s Who’s Who Organisation in America for Executives and Professionals, for exceptional professional knowledge, expertise and client service.

In her capacity as CEO and President of Kindermusik South Africa, Heidi still offers the whole curricula of Kindermusik in her studio, situated in the Head Office building. Her passion is to work with young children and to develop their potential to it’s utmost through the wonderful medium of music and the well-researched and developed Kindermusik-program! She also conducts onsite practical training with each new licensed educator in Southern Africa.
She has one licensed educator and colleague working for her and also doing classes in the studio, as well as doing the school programs.

Kindermusik SA has currently actively licensed educators throughout South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana. One hundred and seventy two licensed educators fall under Heidi’s leadership in South Africa.

Heidi organises International Conventions for her educators each year (this year is the 8th consecutive year) with specialists of Kindermusik International in America and other countries, as well as specialists in our country.

She also has 12 members of staff on her payroll at the Kindermusik Head Office. As South Africa’s representative, Heidi attended the International Kindermusik Convention’s each year in the USA and has also been invited as a speaker for the past two years in the USA.

Heidi has two daughters. Chantelle, who has finished University and now working at Kindermusik SA, and Bianca who is in her 2nd year at University. Both girls are Kindermusik graduates!
